It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Frank A. Locker, 77, on March 1, 2026. At the time of his death, he was a patient at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO after a short illness of sepsis, heart and lung failure. Frank was enjoying his winter home in San Carlos MX where he traveled each winter for 26 years when he became sick.
He was born June 19, 1948, in Boulder, CO to Frank G. Locker and Berneice Fagerberg-He married Lynda Weber, February 14, 1969. They have one son, Erik Locker.
Throughout his journey of 77 years, he touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance. He was always seeking a new adventure. Driven for an endless search for knowledge he earned his teaching degree from UNC in 1971, and earned his master’s degree in counseling in 1980. He had a passion for discovering new things and unswerving pursuit of the truth. This spirit which characterized his life translated into wisdom and lessons he willingly shared with those around him.
Frank was a man of many talents. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, rooting on the Broncos and the CU Buffs, working with the students and their families as a teacher, coach, and mentor. His passion was fishing. He was known as "first cast, first catch Pancho"! He never stopped learning and he was well spoken on many topics.
Frank will be remembered as "Big Guy" by his many friends. His presence was noticed wherever he went. He will be remembered as an outstanding husband, father, teacher, coach and loyal friend. He served on the Berthoud Town Board in the late 80's. His leadership, progressive insights contributed to positive changes for the community of Berthoud. He had a successful career as a Head Wrestling Coach and an assistant football coach at Berthoud High School through the 80's and 90's. His coaching skills and the athletes talents produced many state champions and awards. Always a Spartan!
He lived his life with intention and integrity. You could count on Frank for his honesty, his loyalty and work ethic. He served as a United Way handyman providing services to seniors which allowed them to stay in their own homes.
He was proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Lynda, and son Erik, sister Michele and husband Tim, his brother Dan, his aunt Arlene Hergert, sister-in-law Patti Welfare and husband Greg, His sister-in-law Dee Lee and husband Eldon. He enjoyed many fishing trips with his many nieces and nephews. He shared many adventures with cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Frank's legacy of learning and teaching by seeking out new knowledge and sharing these insights with others. This we believe would be the best tribute to his extraordinary life.
There will be a celebration of life on April 17, 2026, at 2pm at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N Lincoln Ave Loveland, CO 80538. And please honor Frank by wearing tropical attire.
