Jerry Allen Channell

Jerry Allen Channell, 79, formerly of Brandon, MS, went peacefully to be with the Lord on August 20, 2026 at his home in Loveland, CO, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born on September 11, 1946 in Winona, MS to Fred and Joy Channell. He spent his childhood in French Camp and Jackson, MS. Jerry attended Provine and Central High Schools in Jackson before proudly serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. After his return from the army, Jerry met Phyllis Keel, and they were married in Jackson in 1968.

Jerry spent his career in the automotive transport industry. He worked in the administrative office of Complete Auto Transit in Jackson, and retired as the regional manager of Allied Systems in Meridian, MS in 2011. Jerry put his full dedication into whatever hobby or sport he was interested in at the time - be it horse riding, drag racing, corvettes, softball, church volleyball, bowling, tennis, golf or boating. He loved going on trips with family and friends, and spending time with his loved ones. He could be found proudly watching every activity his granddaughters were involved in. Before his illness, he loved cooking a large breakfast for his family on Christmas mornings.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law Barbara Keel. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Channell; his daughter Angie Adair and husband Brian of Loveland, CO; his granddaughters Ashlyn Adair and fiance Henry Woods of Fort Worth, TX, and Avery Adair of Loveland, CO; his brothers, Randy Channell (Bobbie) of Madison, MS, and Danny Channell(Nancy) of Brandon, MS; his sister Gay Williams (Bobby) of Brandon MS; his brother-in-law Jim Keel of Brandon, MS, and sister-in-law Karynn Johnson (Johnny) of Auburndale, FL. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, two of which - Heather and Justin Keel - lovingly referred to him as "Uncle Pops", and many cousins and friends.

Jerry will be remembered for his wit and generosity, and his memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at Daniel Memorial Baptist Church, 3784 Terry Road, Jackson, MS, on September 12, 2026. There will be a short devotional and time of remembrance at 1:00 p.m., followed by visitation.
