Joshua Zan Disney

Aug 20, 1990 — Jun 11, 2026

Joshua Zan Disney was born to Kristin Stephens and David Disney on August 20, 1990, at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado. Josh was precocious child who memorized movie lines, made it to the State Spelling Bee, and read Cyrano De Bergerac as a 9-year-old. In 1995 when the Avalanche came to Colorado, he was smitten and became a lifelong fan.

4-H played a big role in Josh’s life. He was a member for 10 years where he excelled in leadership and won many awards at the state and county fair. He traveled to Atlanta and Washington, D.C. as part of leadership programs.

In 2006, as a high schooler, Josh traveled to New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild houses after Hurricane Katrina. He also played music in Memory Care facilities and spent many hours volunteering with children and teens in the Poudre Libraries. He won several awards for his volunteerism including the Fort Collins Human Relations award.

Josh’s real love, besides his family, was music. He was an accomplished and talented musician, and could play the guitar, mandolin, bass, and piano. He played in venues across Northern Colorado and had a gig in Austin where he billed himself a the “Human Jukebox” because he could play almost any rock song from the 1950’s to present day.

As an adult, Josh worked a variety of jobs. He played music, taught guitar lessons, performed standup comedy, wrote copy for websites, was a hospice caregiver, and worked at retail stores and restaurants. When he died, he was working at PCC in Seattle, a local gourmet grocery store.

Josh was well loved by his parents, Kristin (Brendan) and David (Linda), siblings Nisha (Ezra) and Sanjay, Grandma Joyce, Aunt Tiffany and Uncle Matt, Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Kati, and his cousins, Jonah (Leo), Samantha, Harlyn, Leah, and Stuart, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marlene Disney, Jim Disney, and Jim Stephens.

Funeral Services will be held at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland on July 1 from 5-8 p.m. A rosary and funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on June 30 at 9:00 a.m.
