Linda Rae Roper
May 13, 1947 — Oct 12, 2026
Linda Rae Roper was born at Mercy Hospital in Nampa, Idaho on May 13, 1947, the third child of Ross M. Roper and Doris Randall Roper. She died October 12th in Loveland, Colorado.
As a toddler, Linda contracted Rubella and as a result suffered devastating consequences from brain inflammation leaving her paralyzed on her right side. The path of her life changed forever.
However, with her family and many dedicated and talented specialists, Linda learned, adapted, and ultimately.... thrived. She learned to talk, walk, write, dress herself and ride a three wheeled bike and so much more!
Linda loved crafts and made many quilt blocks with fabric paints until one day her Grandmother Randall taught her how to thread a needle with one hand. After that day.... It was just floss and fabric for Linda! She exhibited her crafts at local fairs in Idaho and Colorado and was so proud of the ribbons she earned.
Linda moved to Colorado in 1999 to be near a sister. She was happy to have a big room in her new group home and a daily activity program. Linda loved babies and children. As part of her program she assisted at Sunrise Kids Daycare and Preschool. She participated in Special Olympics and won several medals before she was confined to a wheelchair.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she enjoyed her church family and the related activities.
Linda remembered names and faces and saw friends everywhere she went. She had a special talent remembering all the family birthday and anniversary dates with cards and notes for each.
Receiving mail was very special to her - especially if a photo was enclosed. Johnny Cash was her favorite entertainer and she had the time of her life attending a Johnny Cash impersonator event!
In 2014 Linda moved to a Host Home in Loveland, Colorado. Her sister lived nearby but Claudia was her loving care giver for 12 years. While in Claudia's care she continued her hobbies and enlarged her circle of friends at church and participating in programs by Foothills Gateway, Ablelight and High Point. The family pets and trips to Disneyland were highlights of her time with Claudia.
Linda is survived by her sisters Peggy Thiessen (Wayne) Portland, Oregon; Mary Jane Horrocks
(Leon) Loveland, Colorado; Betty Kaufman (Frank) Boise, Idaho; and brother, Ben Roper (Kara) Melba, Idaho, sixteen nieces and nephews, thirty six grand nieces and nephews, and one great grand nephew. Her parents and brother, Richard Roper, predeceased her.
A visitation will be held on October 24th in Loveland, Colorado. A funeral service will follow on Friday, October 30th at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 North Midland Blvd., Nampa, Idaho at 10:30 a.m.
