Roger Horton Peck

Roger Horton Peck of Loveland, CO passed away on August 16, 2026 at the age of 89. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.
Roger was born in Berlin, WI on April 9, 1937 to George Covell Peck and Beulah Isabelle Peck. His family included older brothers Garry and John (Jack). He graduated high school at Van Del High School in Middle Point, Ohio. Roger attended Taylor University in Indiana from 1955 To 1960, earning his bachelor degree. At the Ball State University, in 1964, Roger earned his Masters degree in education. Through a cooperative program between Miami University in Oxford and Ohio State University in Columbus, he earned his PHD in 1968.
Roger also attended the Univ. of Wisconsin in Madison during his undergrad work in hopes of pursuing a degree as an agricultural missionary. It was during his time in Wisconsin that he met Constance Hersey, who became his wife on August 23, 1958.
Roger enlisted in the Indiana National Guard and served in the Army. After receiving training as a medic, Connie and Roger moved to Ohio and he switched to the Air Force. His unit was deployed to Germany for one year in 1961, during the Berlin Crisis.
Connie and Roger gave birth to their first son Steven in 1964 during their time in Ohio and later to their second son Jeff in 1966.
When they moved to Ohio, Roger worked at a middle school in Centerville. Beginning in 1970, he worked at the University of Mass. as an associate professor of school administration. In 1973, he moved his family to Madison, CT to work at Southern Ct. State College (later University) and became a full professor. Roger also worked as a consultant with the Personal Profile Systems during the 1980’s while teaching at the University. He retired from teaching in 2000 as a Professor Emeritus.
In 1986, they moved from Madison to Mystic, CT. After living in Mystic for 14 years and vacationing in Marco Island, FL, they eventually moved to Loveland, CO to be near their sons and grandchildren whose families resided in Colorado. Roger and Connie split their years between their home in Loveland and a home in Marco Island Fl. They sold their Florida condo in 2020, and lived full time in Loveland.
Roger had many passions, including sailing, golf, rowing, and biking. He had a lifelong devotion to God and used his later years to spread His word to family and friends.
He was survived by his wife Connie Peck and well as his son/daughter in-laws Steve/Ybis and Jeff/Shawna. His grandchildren include Scott and Brian (Jeff) and Navarro (Steve).
Roger was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Beulah, as well as his two brothers, Garry and Jack.
