Kareen Olivia Ostby Sohler

Kareen Olivia Ostby Sohler was born June 2, 1940 at St. Alphonsus hospital in Boise, Idaho. She grew up and attended Hosford Private School for the deaf in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Washington High School in Portland in 1960. She was an artist. She married Robert Sohler who was a graduate of Gallaudet College and they had one son, Baron, who preceded her.

Kareen died peacefully in her sleep after a visit from her sisters Tracy and Tenly on September 18, 2026.

She is survived by her three grandchildren: Zakk, Vangeline, Sassinak, and a great grandchild Gaalen. She is also survived by her sisters Tracy, Kimberly, and Tenly.

There will be a memorial service in the spring in Agate Beach, Oregon. More details to follow.
