Patricia Rosalie Wasch

Patricia Rosalie “Patty” Wasch passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 91. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Patty will be remembered for her warmth, quick wit, generosity, and the joyful gatherings she created for all who knew and loved her.

Patty was born on April 24, 1935, in Billings to Raymond and Virginia Valdez. She was raised in both Billings and Portland, where she built lifelong friendships and deep family roots. She attended one year at Immaculata Academy in Portland, earning a scholarship in recognition of her talent as a pianist and her dedication to musical education. She then spent three years and graduated from Washington High School.

On August 6, 1955, Patty married the love of her life, George Wasch, at St. Stephen Catholic Church after the two were introduced on a blind date arranged by friends. Their loving marriage spanned more than 70 years and was centered on faith, family, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Patty’s greatest joy was her family. A lifelong homemaker and stay-at-home mother, she created a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt loved and cared for. She especially cherished preparing wonderful meals and baking cookies for her family. She rarely missed a sporting event, school play, or family activity, always supporting her children with enthusiasm and pride.

From 1961 to 2016, Patty and George made their home in Portland’s Laurelhurst neighborhood, a place that became the spiritual center of family life. Patty was famous among family and friends for hosting unforgettable holiday celebrations and parties filled with delicious food, laughter, and hospitality. She even earned the nickname “Pattyfest” for her memorable events. She was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved most.

Patty also dedicated many years to volunteer and fundraising work, contributing more than a decade of service to the Parry Center, now known as Trillium Family Services, Providence Child Center, and Central Catholic High School. In 1977, she served as Chairman of the Portland Oktoberfest, where she oversaw sponsorships, fundraising, and staff management with remarkable energy and leadership.

A woman of many passions, Patty loved music, fashion, entertaining, and wine tasting. For her, a perfect day included a shopping trip to Nordstrom, a wonderful dinner at the restaurant of her choice with her husband George, fine wine, and plenty of laughter.

Patty and George were longtime parishioners of All Saints Parish from 1961 to 1990 and later members of Holy Redeemer Parish from 1990 to 2017.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Virginia Valdez, and her daughter-in-law, Beverly Wasch.

She is survived by her beloved husband George Wasch; her sisters, Carlita Evezich and Jeanie Harpham; her children, Mindy Lawler, Mikal Wasch, and Erin Bilby; her son-in-law, Brian Bilby; her daughter-in-law, Rita Lawler; her treasured granddaughters, Lydia Bilby and Abby Bilby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass for Patricia will be held on June 2, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church, followed by interment at Willamette National Cemetery.

Patty’s legacy lives on in the talents she passed down to her children, the traditions she created, and the countless memories created in her home. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
