Frederick William Gergen

Frederick William Gergen passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

For 69 wonderful years, Fred shared his life, heart, and home with his beloved wife, Janice. Their enduring marriage stood as a bedrock for a large, close-knit family that was Fred’s greatest pride and joy.

Fred worked for many years as a real estate appraiser, bringing integrity, a keen eye and dedication to his profession. Known for his warm personality, Fred made friends effortlessly wherever he went. He was an avid golfer who spent many happy hours on the green, but nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family, particularly his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Fred loved captivating his grandchildren with stories of his time in uniform. A deeply talented woodworker, he poured his skill into creating pieces that his family will forever cherish.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his children, Angie (Jim), Tom (Gina), Julie (Mark), Diane (Peter), Linda (Al), Bob (Judy), Steve (Dawn), and Tere (Paul); his brothers, Ed, Tom, and Dan; as well as 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who will forever treasure his memory and warmth.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his generous spirit and legacy of love live on in the generations he leaves behind.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday 09/08/2026, from 4-7 PM with a reflection of life at 7:00 PM at Willwerscheid Funeral Home West-Heights, 235 Wentworth Ave W, West Saint Paul, MN 55118
