Lois Dorothy Lotzer (nee Asher)

November 22, 1927-April 8, 2026

LOTZER Lois  Dorothy “Loie” (nee Asher),

Lois, age 98, of St. Paul, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth (McDonald) Asher; her husband of 26 years, Louis; son Peter; brothers, Don and Jerry; sisters, Jeanette, Theresa, Patricia and Bernadette; and special friend Ed. Survived by her children, Janet, John (Gina), Joyce (Ray Kotta), Patrice (Chris Engelmann) and Joseph; grandchildren Serena Pierson Ivy (Joey Ivy), Jeffrey (Brittany), Eric, Anthony, Torie, Andrew (Jess), Claire (Zak), Matthew, and Michael; great grandchildren,  Piers, Gia and Connor; brother-in-law Jerry; many nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends.

Lois was born in Durand, WI. The family eventually settled outside Hastings, MN. When she was 14, Lois alone moved to St. Paul to live with her aunt so she could attend St. Agnes High School. She finished her senior year at Hastings High School so she could be close to her family again.  After high school she moved back to St. Paul and started a job at Armour Creameries as well as an extra job at Highland Drugstore. She met her future husband Lou at the Prom Ballroom and they married in October 1952.  From then on they were Louis and Lois until Lou died in 1978. Lois was employed at West Publishing Company at that time, retiring soon after to a life of volunteer work. Lois was devoted to her faith and attended and worked at St. Mark’s church where she had many special friends. She was a long-time member of St. Mark's Council of Catholic Women, serving in many capacities, and loved working at the rummage sales and pie booth. She enjoyed hosting many card parties and big holiday parties. She was a fantastic pie baker, at times baking a couple of pies a day and delivering them to her friends and family.  She delivered communion to the homebound and would drive friends to their appointments. She enjoyed gardening, reading, letter writing, going to Lake Shamineau for an annual vacation and journaling, recording daily events for most of her life.  She was our teacher, our counselor and inspiration. She had superb health throughout her life and was able to age in place in her home of 61 years, probably due to her positive outlook and spirituality. Hers was a life well-lived.
