Lynda Forrest (Stream) Swanson

July 21, 1949 - July 30, 2026

Lynda Forrest (Stream) Swanson, age 77, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lynda was born on July 21, 1949, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Lyle Vernon and Dorothe' Virginia (McCowen) Stream. She grew up in Lindstrom, Minnesota, graduated from Lindstrom-Center City High School ("Chi-Hi"), and later married, built her nursing career, and raised her family on the east side of Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Lynda graduated from the nursing program at St. Mary’s in Minneapolis and began her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse in 1971. She devoted the next 44 years to caring for others with skill and compassion in the Emergency Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint Paul, where she worked until her retirement. Lynda considered her colleagues at “St. Joe’s” an extension of her family. She also went on to earn her Bachelor of Science from Augsburg College in 1978.

Lynda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering compassion. She had a remarkable gift for caring for others - family, friends, coworkers, pets, and the many patients whose lives she touched. Her kindness was reflected in thoughtful acts and a calming presence that brought comfort to those around her.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle Vernon and Dorothe' Virginia (McCowen) Stream.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Maser and Courtney Swanson (Robert Senn); brother, Lyle Stream; sister, Laurie Stream; niece, Kristin (Dan) Peterson; nephew, Pat (Carla) Stream; and her beloved grandchildren, Dylan (18), Sonny (15), Scarlett (9), and Mara (7).

A service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 401 Concord Street, Saint Paul, MN 55107. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following the service. A private interment at Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom, Minnesota, will take place at a later date.

Lynda's quiet strength, generous heart, and deep love for her family will be remembered always and deeply missed.
