Rita Claire Kotz (Nee: Jobst)

Rita Claire Kotz (née Jobst), 93, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born April 14th, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rita lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and service.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Eugene Kotz, and grandchildren Olivia Becker, Jack Becker, and Gracie Becker.

Rita is survived by her children, Paul Kotz (Jan Joseph), Thomas Kotz, Eugene Kotz II, and Karen Becker (Dean Becker); grandchildren Kali Barlau (Bob Barlau), Rebecca Kotz, Victoria Kotz, Lauren Kotz, and Griffin Becker; and great-grandchildren Ashton Barlau and Zander Barlau.

A devoted Catholic and member of the Church of the Assumption, Rita was the founder of Singles Over Sixty and a dedicated supporter of the Three Angels Fund, benefiting the Neonatal Unit at St. Paul Children's Hospital. Her family was her greatest joy. She will be remembered as a fierce advocate for her children, a loyal friend, and a lover of all dogs, who were drawn to her gentle heart.

We will celebrate Rita’s life on Tuesday, August 18 at The Church of the Assumption in St. Paul. Visitation will be held at the church at 9 AM with the funeral mass immediately following at 10 AM, and luncheon afterward. Join us for any or all of these.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Lyngblomsten Care Center, whose compassion and loving care enriched Rita's final year.
