Dianne Hastings Shealy
November 17, 1947 — May 2, 2026
Dianne Hastings Shealy, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, in Irmo, South Carolina, after a long and courageous health battle. Born on November 17, 1947, in Columbia, South Carolina, Dianne was the daughter of the late William and Mary Hastings and Margorie Hastings.
Dianne grew up in Columbia and graduated from Dreher High School before attending the University of South Carolina. Her life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and an enduring love for the outdoors. Whether she was tending to her garden, hunting, enjoying a peaceful fishing trip, or cheering on her favorite sports teams, Dianne brought joy and enthusiasm to everything she did. She had a special tenderness for animals and babies and was known for her unwavering kindness toward everyone she encountered. Her generosity of spirit was not something she spoke about – it was simply how she lived.
Dianne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Melton “Herb” Shealy, whose steadfast care and devotion in her final years were a profound testament to their bond. Together they built an exciting life filled with many adventures, cherished memories and love.
She is also survived by her two daughters, Courtney Shealy Hart (Justin) and Paige Shealy Goff (Graham), who were the pride and joy of her life; her grandchildren, Jackson Hart, Leiden Goff and Mara Hart; her sister-in-law Sandra Swartzfager; her brother-in-law John Shealy (Karen); many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend Mary Rabon. Dianne was predeceased by her beloved brother John Swartzfager.
Dianne’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Jamie Mullins for the loving care she provided as Dianne’s caregiver. They also wish to thank the compassionate team at VIA Hospice for their kindness during Dianne’s final days.
Dianne’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth made every room brighter, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. May she rest in peace surrounded by the beauty she so deeply cherished.
