Estell "Coco" C. McDougall
Jun 4, 1955 — Jul 28, 2026
Estell “Coco” C. McDougall departed this world on July 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable joy.
Born on June 4, 1955, in Managua, Nicaragua, to her mother Romona Centeno, Coco grew up in a large and lively family of fourteen siblings. Two of her brothers later settled in Boston, where they continue to raise families of their own.
Growing up in Nicaragua, Coco loved the simple beauty of life—especially spending time at the beach and enjoying the company of her many friends. After graduating high school, she welcomed her first daughter, Karla, into the world. Seeking new opportunities, she later traveled to Washington, D.C., on a work visa before moving to Columbia, where she lived with a cousin.
It was in Columbia that she met David McDougall, and the two married one year later on May 16, 1981. Their marriage blossomed into 45 happy years together, filled with adventures, family, and deep devotion. Coco later gave birth to their younger daughter, Bonnie.
Coco’s family continued to grow, blessing her with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Throughout her life, Coco worked many years as a waitress, where her bright personality, warm smile, and contagious laughter made her beloved by coworkers and customers alike.
She had a special love for animals, and living on a peaceful pond in Sumter, South Carolina, where she delighted in feeding ducks and caring for the creatures that visited her yard. Of all the places she lived, this home—quiet, beautiful, and full of life—was her favorite.
Coco cherished time with friends and family, whether gathering for celebrations or simply enjoying a night out. Her spirit was vibrant, her presence unforgettable, and her kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed by her husband David, her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she brightened.
