Evelyn Pressley Coggins
Sep 11, 1933 — Jul 12, 2026
With faith in God's promise of eternal life and with grateful hearts for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Evelyn Pressley Coggins, who passed away peacefully and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2026, at the age of 92. She is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert M. Coggins Sr., and all those who have gone before her.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, supportive sister & aunt, cherished grandmother, faithful friend, and compassionate caregiver. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with those she loved and caring for others with a generous heart. At her homes at The Pines of Columbia and Westover Acres, she found happiness in life's simple blessings. She especially treasured time spent with Sudie, Judy, Gloria, and her many friends at CUMC.
She dedicated many years of service to the residents and families at Manor Care Nursing Facility, where her caring spirit touched countless lives.
Above all, her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Her greatest prayer was that each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and have a personal relationship with Him, so that one day they would all be reunited together in heaven with her.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Bobby Coggins (Tammy), Sammy Coggins (Angie), Janice Jaco, and Tonja Caviness (Doug); and her cherished grandchildren: Melissa, Andy (Heather), Patrick (Stacy), Brittany (Eric), Jason, 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and devotion will continue through each of them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert M. Coggins Sr.; her parents, Willie Mae Nance Pressley and William M. Pressley; all 12 of her siblings; her beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Jaco; her great-granddaughter, Merideth Kneece; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the members of Cayce United Methodist Church for their many cards, flowers, gifts and unwavering support. They also wish to thank the compassionate staff of The Pines of Columbia for providing a loving, home-like environment, as well as Three Oaks Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, compassion, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her family finds comfort in knowing she has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," and now rests forever in the arms of her Savior.
A visitation will be held at Woodridge Memorial Park 138 Corley Mill Rd West Columbia, SC on Thursday, July 16 @ 1:00pm in the Mausoleum Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033, Spring Valley Presbyterian Church 125 Sparkleberry Lane Columbia, SC 29229 or to the charity of your choice.
