John Allen Jowers
Oct 28, 1940 — Aug 19, 2026
John Allen Jowers, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 19th, 2026. Born in Nicholls, Coffee County, Georgia on October 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Dennis Jowers and Eva Carver Jowers, and the husband of 53 years of the late Genette Spivey Jowers. John Allen graduated from Coffee County High School in 1959 and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force as an M.P. from 1960-1964. Afterward, John was an insurance agent for several years before settling into his long-term career as an Advertising Specialty Sales manager.
John loved many things, but his wife and children always came first, he loved them more than life. Second, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were loved dearly. The University of Georgia Football, those Bulldogs, and the game of golf were a close third.
John Allen is survived by his son, Zane A. Jowers (Deborah); daughters, Kristie Jowers Sherr (Thad) and Cynthia R. Jowers; grandchildren, Allen R. Sherr (Lauren), Carter T. Sherr (Alexis), and Eva Mae Jowers; great grandchildren, Jensen, Lillian, and Raelynn Sherr; his brother, Henry Jowers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his siblings: Ira Jowers, Evelyn Jowers King, Ethel Jowers Davis, Thomas Jowers, Richard Jowers, Charles Jowers, Betty Jean Jowers McKinnon, Paul Jowers, and Julia Jowers Rowell.
A visitation will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 2nd, at Woodridge Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 11am in the Mausoleum Chapel at Woodridge Memorial Park.
