Michael David Darlington

Michael Darlington, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 12, 2026, at the age of 73.

Michael was born in 1953, in Columbia, SC, to Norman and Sue Darlington. Throughout his life, Michael was known for his kind heart, steady presence and the love he shared with his family and friends. He touched the lives of many through the years and will be remembered for the memories he created and the people he cared for.

Michael is survived by his son, Aaron; daughter, Angela; grandkids; siblings, Deborah Darlington, James (Char) Darlington, Patricia Bradley, Benjamin Darlington, sister-in-law, Kathy (Richard) Darlington; Uncle David & Aunt Marion; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members and dear friends, who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Darlington.

Mike was a proud USAF Veteran and a driver for UPS, Schneider & Maverick Trucking.

He was an avid fisherman who would wet his line any chance he could, whether it was on the rushing waters of the American river, catching steelhead salmon; or a small farm pond, hunting for bass; to the beach of the Outer Banks, going for red drum; he was always up for a fishing trip. He would go all out in the preparation and make sure everyone could participate, whether they liked to fish or it was their first time. He was as patient and kind in teaching the newbie as he was with someone who thought they didn’t need his help. He was always ready to lend a hand or pay for whatever was needed. He never asked anyone to repay a debit and said it was his way of paying it forward. He was a Boy Scout. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and was an altar boy while attending Catholic schools. He lost his way in midlife but was able to find Christ again later in life.

Michael’s life will be remembered with love, gratitude, and cherished memories. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held Sept. 28th at Woodridge Cemetery in Lexington, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity or organization in Michael’s memory.
