Wayne Robert Boxler
April 8, 1941 – October 13, 2026
Wayne Boxler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 8, 1941, to A.K. and Rose Boxler, Wayne grew up with a warmth and spirit that would touch countless lives over the years. He attended Garden City High School and Fort Hays State University before marrying the love of his life, Karen Walsh, on June 27, 1964.
Wayne spent over 30 years building a dedicated career with Cities Service Gas Co., a role that took him and his family to various communities across Kansas. Retiring early, he and Karen embraced their next chapter together—traveling for several years before settling in Mesa, Arizona, to enjoy a well-earned retirement.
Known for the constant smile on his face and his quick, dry sense of humor, Wayne was a man of many talents and passions. Over the years, he immersed himself in woodworking, golf, stained glass art, and watercolor painting to name a few. He was also the ultimate handyman and a dependable neighbor and friend; whenever anyone needed a helping hand, practical fix, or sound advice, Wayne was always the first person they called. Above all, his greatest devotion was to his family, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, generosity, and kindness.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, A.K. and Rose Boxler; his siblings, Gene, Jerry, and Firma; and his beloved sons, Steve and Keith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Karen; his son, Len, and daughter-in-law, Mary; daughters-in-law Nancy and Tracy; grandchildren Daniel, Zak, Evan, Brooke, and Lia; and his great-grandchild, Owen.
