Nestled in the heart of the Tampa Bay area, David C. Gross Funeral Homes stands as a testament to unwavering commitment and respect for families from all walks of life. Our story began in 1953 in St. Petersburg, in a stately home at the nexus of community life, poised to serve the growing neighborhoods with care and compassion. Throughout the years, under various esteemed names and through the vision of St. Petersburg native David C. Gross since 1979, our services have expanded and adapted to meet the evolving needs of our community.


With strategic expansions, including the acquisition of the Downs-Ford Funeral Home in downtown St. Petersburg in 1982, and the Robert D. Easter Funeral Home in Gulfport in 1991, David C. Gross Funeral Homes has deepened its roots in the community. Although operations from these locations have since been consolidated to enhance our offerings, our commitment to serving families with grace and dignity remains unchanged. Today, David C. Gross Funeral Homes is synonymous with trust, respect, and the highest standard of personalized funeral services, continuing to earn its excellent reputation across the Tampa Bay area.

  • Care of your loved one until burial is complete. Family not present with timing at the discretion of the funeral home.

This year I unfortunately experienced the loss of my father and my maternal grandmother. Edith, our funeral director, was the best person to assist us in this difficult time. She guided us every step of the way, providing the best support possible. Edith not only expressed professionalism but a beyond level of compassion and care. My family and I cannot express the gratitude we have for Edith, especially with dealing with two losses within the span of two months. We used Simplicity in Ladson. Riley and his team are kind, caring, soft spoken, calm, and patient. They willingly answered questions. They assisted me with filling out the paperwork and repeated information when needed. They returned my calls efficiently. They were so helpful in through the cremation and preparation for burial of my father and stepmother. I did accidentally call the North Charleston location one day and based on my phone interaction, the North Charleston office does not seem to have the compassion and caring nature of the Ladson office. I highly recommend Riley and his Ladson team.
