" Cynthia E. (Grout) Lindsey, 77, died Monday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Born in Springfield, May 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Syndey E. and Eva (Switzer) Grout. Cynthia grew up in Springfield and was a 1947 graduate of the Community School for Nursing Attendants at Wesson Memorial Hospital. During her career, she worked at the Springfield Hospital and Mary Lane Hospital. Following her marriage in 1955, she became a homemaker and remained at home to raise her children. She was predeceased by her husband George J. Lindsey who died in 1977. She is survived by her son George and daughter Janet Lindsey both with whom she lived. She also leaves a brother, Howard E. Grout of Shushan, NY. In recent years, Cynthia started a tradition at Christmas with her children. Rather than exchange gifts, they would pool their money and donate to the local food pantry. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, and to honor Cynthia's generosity and the spirit of the season, please give to your local food bank, or send a donation in Cynthia's memory to: St. Francis Food Panty, P.O. Box 612, Belchertown, 01007. Mrs. Lindsey's services will be held on Saturday, November 29. A calling hour will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at South Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. "
