Mrs. Mary Alyce Atkins Spainhour, 83, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Spainhour was born on Monday, April 18, 1938 in Guilford County to the late Theodore C. and Lucille Farrington Atkins. She was a member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Spainhour was a 1956 graduate of Kernersville High School. She retired from the Medical Records Department of Forsyth Medical Center after 43 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Harold D. Spainhour, Sr.; two sons, Dean Spainhour, Jr. and wife Deborah of Yadkinville, NC, and Darren C. Spainhour of Kernersville, NC; three, sisters, Violet Stack, Linda Knight and husband David, and Olivia Hine and husband, G. H.; three grandchildren, Corry, Skylar, and Trevor; and four great grandchildren, Grayson, Jace, Justin, and Jasper. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spainhour was preceded in death by her brothers, Aubrey Atkins, and James Atkins; sister, Naomi Taylor; and step-brother, Kenneth Atkins. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel with Tim Smith and Pastor Todd Reynolds officiating. Entombment will follow at the Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. There will be a visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
