Tatiana Hetschinof, 82, of Gulfport, passed away March 16, 2013. Tatiana was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Her parents came from Imperial Russia, to escape the Red Terror of Communism. She went through WW II, living in DP camps such as in Austria. Eventually, she escaped to Caracas, Venezuela, where she met her husband, Konstanty, who was also from Eastern Europe. They moved to New York and they got married in New York City. Tatiana lived in Hamilton Heights of NYC, which is where her two sons, George and Konstantin, were born. Later, their family moved out to the suburbs of Rockland County, Valley Cottage, NY. Tatiana, or Tania as she was called, worked for Tolstoy Foundation Center, and also briefly for the Novo-Diveievo Russian Orthodox Monastery both in Rockland County. Mom was also a Sunday school teacher at the Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY. For many years, she was the church treasurer, besides always helping out every type of church function, such as Christmas celebrations or Maslenitsa. They sold their house in NY in 1998, and moved to St Petersburg, Florida. They were both very active in the St. Andrews Russian Orthodox Church and its activities, as well as the Russian American Community, Club and events.
