James Lynn Wilken, age 69, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at his home in Las Vegas, surrounded by his family after fighting a 3 year battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. Jim was born July 2, 1942 in Shelbyville, IL to the late Lloyd Charles and the late Belva Leonie (Demers) Wilken. Jim worked as a marketing manager for Rums of Puerto Rico until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed reading, working in his yard and spending time with his family. Upon retirement, Jim lived near his children and grandchildren in Woodstock, GA and Port Washington, WI before moving to Las Vegas in 2006. Jim is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carol (Carter) Wilken of Las Vegas; daughters Laura (Dudley) Rashid of Port Washington WI, Kathy Thompson of Woodstock GA; son David (Barbara) Wilken of Las Vegas NV; grandchildren Tracy Rashid, Kimberly Rashid, Allie Thompson and Rachel Wilken; siblings Ron (Toni) Wilken of Lexington IL, Steve Wilken of Arlington TX, Ann (John) Foley of Delafield WI and Mary (Brian) Spaeth of New Berlin WI. Private services will be held in Port Washington, WI at a later date. Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
