Genevieve Margaret Myck, 85, of Clearwater, died peacefully at Mease Dunedin Hospital on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Born November 30, 1927 in Dingmans Ferry, PA, to John and Maria (Newlands) Smith, she graduated high school in Milford, PA and was married for 61 years to Rhinehart "Mick" Myck until his death in 2010. The family moved to Clearwater in 1959 and in the following years "Gene" worked for Maas Brothers before going back to school and graduating in 1972 from the University of South Florida. She had a long career as a social worker and ultimately retired from the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitation Services. Endowed with a quick wit and sense of humor, she enjoyed spirited conversations, was an avid reader and found great pleasure as well in gardening, traveling and keeping fit by "walking the trail". Gene was a kind and beautiful woman who will be sorely missed by so many. She is survived by her three children, Stephen Myck of Madison, WI, Jeffrey Myck of Clearwater, FL and Michelle (Dave) Manning of Bristol, TN; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 19 at David C. Gross Funeral Home in Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mease Manor Continuing Care, Dunedin, FL and The Inn on the Pond, Clearwater, FL. David C.
