Richard Martin Westerberg died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Sun Coast Hospice, Palm Harbor, Florida. He was born March 17, 1951 on Long Island. He grew up in Hicksville, Long Island, (NY). Professionally he was a chef and a florist, often working at the two professions concurrently. He resided in Tarpon Springs, Florida, for the past 17 years. Prior to that he lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for several years. In retirement Richard Martin loved caring for his orchids and flowering plants. He was thoughtful and considerate of others. He faced numerous health challenges with dignity and deep faith in God. May his memory be eternal! He is survived by his brothers Thomas Westerberg (Glory) and Archpriest Michael Westerberg (Lydia), who were with him at the time of his final illness and death. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Richard Martin was buried on April 9, 2019, in St. Vladimir‘s Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Jackson, New Jersey, near his parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles. The family offers thanks to Richard’s neighbors, especially Ivette and Ruth, his nurse Patricia and aid Nicholas, for the care and loving friendship they extended to him. Donations in Richard Martin’s memory may be made to Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, 285 Alden Avenue, New Haven, CT 06515, and earmarked for the iconography fund. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Belcher Road Chapel in Clearwater is serving the family.
