James "Jim" Halenda, 89, of St. Petersburg, passed away January 12, 2013. Born in Wislok, Poland, he was married in England in 1951 to his loving wife Mary of 61 years. They moved to Canada in 1952, where their two children were born. He was a resident of St. Petersburg since 1967. He was a proud US citizen and a long-time barber in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to his wife, Mary, he is also survived by children, David (Robin) and Julie DelVecchio (Scott), grandchildren, Lauren and Marcus DelVecchio, brother Mike (Doreen) and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 26, 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 200 78th Avenue NE, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice or Holy Family Catholic Church. David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Central Avenue Chapel in St. Petersburg is serving the family.
