Bernard Handwerker, age 83, a 22 year resident of Las Vegas, died Thursday, January 26, 2012. Bernard was born October 16, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late Isadore and the late Golda (Naparty) Handwerker. Bernie served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as a Master Sergeant and earned a Bronze Star . He became involved with computers, during their early years and had a career as a computer analyst. Bernie was an incredible craftsman, who could build or create almost anything with his hands. He was a member of the Sun City Summerlin stained glass and woodworking clubs, Congregation Bet Knesset Bamidbar and the Jewish War Veterans Post 21. He also enjoyed playing pan, bridge and poker. Bernie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Handwerker; and sons Gary Handwerker and Robert Handwerker, both of Las Vegas Services will be at 8:40 AM on Friday, February 3 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
