Michael R. Rucco at the age of 77, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania he was raised in Philadelphia, where he met the love of his life Connie. Together they raised their 5 daughters before retiring to Clearwater, Florida in 1997. In early March of this year Mike and Connie renewed their wedding vows celebrating 60 years of marriage. A family man who believed in family values and often worked two jobs so that his girls never went without. What do you say about a man who taught his girls about love, strength, courage and the importance of family. He was a self taught man always open to learning new things and was a resource to all on so many subjects. A huge Philadelphia sports fan who instilled a love of the curve ball, the slap shot, the blitz and a slam duck in his girls. He ensured that his girls saw Jim Bunning's perfect game on Father's Day 1964. Favorite memories include: family vacations, TastyKakes, penny candy nights, singing "Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Bear," and "abracadabra" to change the red lights to green. A magical man who was preceded in death by his wife Connie. He missed and loved Connie to much to stay here with his girls. We lost our hero. The first man we ever loved. He is survived by his daughters and their spouses: Debbie and Carl Jordan, Terrie and Joe Golden, Shellie and Randy Wynn, Connie Gall and Kathie and Wes Gardner. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7th in Clearwater , Florida. The viewing will be at David Gross Funeral Home, 830 N. Belcher Road from 11 am to 12 noon. A mass will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 S. Belcher Road at 12:30 pm. Burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
