Stanley Joseph Lisiewicz, 92, passed away on December 5, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 3, 1932, son of Joseph Lisiewicz and Mary (Zaklinska) Lisiewicz. They emigrated from Austria to eventually settle on land in central Massachusetts. They were forced to move from that area, as the Swift River was flooded to create the Quabbin Reservoir. They then settled on a farm on South Street in Belchertown. Stanley was the youngest of seven children and survived all of them and their spouses: John and his wife Kazmiara, Anne and her husband Harold, Mildred and her husband Stanley, Helen, who passed at age 8, Rose and her husband Steve, and Sophie and husband Eddie.

Stanley was also preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, and our beloved mother, Virginia (Gondek) Lisiewicz. He leaves behind two sons and one daughter: John Lisiewicz and his wife Pamela Lisiewicz, Donna (Lisiewicz) Longtin and her husband Joseph Longtin, and Dean Lisiewicz. He has two grandchildren, Mary (Lisiewicz) Mastrogiovanni and Molly (Lisiewicz) Lauzon. He has two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Mia Mastrogiovanni. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his niece, Ellen.

Stanley had a strong work ethic. For most of his early life, he worked on his parents’ farm with his siblings and developed a skill for gardening that later fed his family well for many years. He could often be found in various locations around Palmer selling his prized tomatoes from his amazing garden! He worked on the family farm, then worked several jobs along the way, including managing his own tree business. He worked for many years at the Town of Palmer Highway Division until he retired. He used his income to provide a good life and home for his wife and three children.

Stanley was a beloved son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He lived to make people laugh and even in his last few days, he was making the nurses smile and laugh with his jokes. He brought joy to so many of us and made many new friends along the way with his humor.

We will treasure his memory, joke books and his numerous joke “cheat sheets” we are finding everywhere. He was a true, New England sports fan, and watched almost every Red Sox game that he could. Stanley was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. One of his lifelong dreams was fulfilled when the Red Sox finally won their first world series in 86 years, and first in his lifetime, in 2004. We were able to celebrate his 80th birthday with him at Fenway Park, where they honored him on the giant scoreboard. It was a wonderful day and a cherished memory for us all.

He leaves a legacy of a loving, close-knit family, and a legacy of bringing laughter and fun to so many. He will be deeply missed!
