Donald M. McCall Jr., beloved brother, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 19, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 70. Born on March 8, 1955, in Syracuse, New York, to Donald and Norma McCall, Donald was one of four children. He is survived by his loving siblings: Kathleen McCall, Judith Santimaw, & John McCall.

Donald’s commitment to service began early in life. A proud graduate of Liverpool High School, he was a varsity football player known for his determination and team spirit. At 18, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country with honor until 1985. In 1981, Donald earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland, a reflection of his deep interest in justice and public service. During his time in the military reserves, he also worked in construction and as a security guard at the Smithsonian Museum. After completing his military service, he went on to receive commendations for his work as a police officer for the D.C. Housing Authority, serving with integrity and compassion for 15 years.

In addition to his service-oriented careers, Donald was a dedicated philanthropist who supported various charitable organizations focused on veterans and animal rights. His generosity extended far beyond his immediate circle, as he gave time and resources to causes that reflected his deep compassion and belief in justice and care for all. Donald was known to all who met him as a man of generosity, kindness, and selflessness. With his big personality, infectious laughter, and heart full of warmth, he brought light into every room and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

During the last 13 years of his life, Donald lived with his devoted sister Kathleen in Melbourne, Florida. Her love and care supported him until his final days, and their bond was a source of comfort and strength. A memorial service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care in Melbourne, FL on May 2 from 5–6 p.m. Donald M. McCall Jr. will be dearly missed, but his legacy of service, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
