Rebecca "Becky" Earlene Carter

Rebecca “Becky” Earlene Carter, age 59 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025.  Becky was born on January 3, 1966, in Kingsport, TN to David and Ida McGhee.  On April 17, 1999, Becky married the love of her life, Jimmy Carter, and after 26 years of a beautiful life together, he survives.

Becky loved her family, and she enjoyed every moment with them.  She found peace working in her flower garden and she loved taking care of her MANY cats.  With so many cats, she was known as the “Cat Hoarder” by her family and friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David McGhee Jr.; and sister, Davonna Walls.  Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jimmy Carter; two sons, Matthew Smith, and Jesse Smith; daughter, Sarah Carter; stepdaughter, Stephanie Carter; three grandchildren, Darcy Smith, Hunter Shepard, and Hazel Carter; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Kingsport.  A life celebration service will be held at 7:00 pm with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Hermon United Methodist Cemetery.   Becky’s family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.  Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm.
