On July 23rd, 2025, our cherished mother, Dottie (Dorothy) L. Walden left this world peacefully at the young age of 96 surrounded by her loved ones. She was formally from Vestal, NY and passed away in Winter Haven, FL. She brought warmth, laughter, and guidance to everyone lucky enough to know her. Dottie was born June 1st, 1929, in Utica, NY. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Edward (Ed) D. Walden Sr. She was also predeceased by her parents Walenty and Mary Lasek. She was the last surviving of 9 children, John (Nell) Lasek, Margaret (Wilfred) Oastler, Rose (Al) Roczen, Jean (Gerry) Lattin, Eugene (Helen) Lasek, Edmund (Mary) Lasek, Leonard (Carolyn) Lasek and Infant Ann Lasek.

Dottie is survived by her children, Edward (Don) (Patty Powers) Walden, Patricia (Patty Ann) Walden Johnson, Jeanie Julie Walden Caswell, Robert J (Kristin) Walden. Grandchildren Justin Walden, Cassie (George) Weidinger, Ericca (Ian) Pitelen, Julie (John) Johnson, Mary (Zack) Johnson, Charley Ann Caswell, Alex (Maddie) Walden, Timmy Walden. Great Grandchildren Grant and Calvin Weidinger, Shaun Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

 

Dottie was a very devout Catholic, member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Winter Haven, Florida, and a Eucharistic Minister. Dottie was a lifelong fan of the Dodgers, Duke Snider, the Washington Redskins, and the Florida State Seminoles. Above all, one of Arnold Palmer's biggest fans!!! A proud moment for her was to see the first Polish Pope, John Paul II elected. While living in Vestal, Dottie worked in the Vestal School Cafeteria on African Rd. In 1987 moved with Ed to Florida, where she went to work for Greenleaf. She also became a notary and continued her education through night school, receiving numerous awards and honorable mentions. Dottie will be missed by all.

Internment will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
