Sophie Ann Stanley

Our precious, beloved Sophie Ann Stanley, an angel on earth and now in heaven, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at age 27. Sophie loved everyone and everyone loved her-stranger and friend alike. She was the cherished daughter of Marilyn and James Stanley, and Ginger and Dan Stephens who all enveloped her in loving care and devotion with the help of many amazing teachers and caretakers. Sophie brought infectious laughter and immeasurable love to her sisters, Ella Stanley, Madeline Stanley, and Katie Stephens. Sophie is also survived by her loving grandparents, Molly and Eddie Stanley, Mack and Myra Batchelor and Bill and Marguerite Stephens. And predeceased by grandparents Melvin Long and Janice Block.

Sophie was diagnosed with Retts Syndrome at age 10 but despite her disabilities she had a mischievous sense of humor. She would laugh until she cried if someone had a minor mishap or made a funny noise. And she loved music, swimming, Christmas lights, fireworks-anything that sparkled. Without words, Sophie taught us all profound lessons in patience, empathy, and love. Sophie’s now whole and in the arms of her precious Memaw, Lucy Batchelor who adored her beyond words. Sophie will be greatly missed but according to her Grandma Molly, she is in heaven dancing, singing, and laughing.
