Georgianne G. Buchanan

On Saturday September 20, 2025, in the late afternoon, Georgianne G. Buchanan passed away and flew to Heaven on angel’s wings.

She had been battling cancer for several months and lost the fight at age 65. Georgianne (known as Anne by her family and friends) was born to Polish farmers on March 1, 1960, in Riverhead, NY.

When her parents George and Joan Gatz moved to St. Cloud, FL, she met her husband, Mike Buchannan. The two were married for 42+ years.

She and Mike were a tight-knit couple: true soul mates and best friends. They loved spending time together enjoying the natural world, sailing, listening to music, creating a home surrounded by nature and being with their families and their pets.

Georgianne was a dedicated teacher for 35 years and was admired by her colleagues. Teaching first and second graders was her passion.

She instilled in her students a lifelong love of learning. Her legacy lives on in the many

students she inspired.

Following her retirement in 2018, she and Mike were enjoying the simpler things in life and caring for her beloved parents until her mother Joan’s passing in December 2023 and her father George’s passing in April 2025.

Anne and Mike recently sold their Melbourne home of 34 years and were set to move to their new retirement home the St. Augustine area.

Anne is survived by her husband, Mike Buchanan, and her four brothers: Greg, Gary, Jay, and Tim.

May God, hold you close and let perpetual light shine upon you. Thank you, Anne, for all the lives you have touched in this world. We will surely miss you.
