It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Silas Fred Cordova as we prepare to remember and honor a life that was generously lived and filled to the brim with love.

Silas Fred Cordova born on March 20th, 1945 in Alamosa/Chama Colorado passed away on October 9th, 2025 at the age of 80. He was the son of Fred and Sophia Cordova. Silas grew upon a farm with his 8 siblings, Lorena, Lorraine, Eleanor, Chris, Paul, Becky, Jesse, and Jerry. In reflecting on his life, he fondly recalled his years on the farm as some of his happiest: spentoutdoors, surrounded by animals, sunshine, and just the right amount of mischief. Whether he was wrangling animals and siblings alike or stirring up a little chaos for fun, those days brought him joy, freedom, and stories that only grew funnier with time. In his later days, he found his rhythm in the strum of a guitar, the quiet patience of a fishing line, and the roar of NASCAR engines on the TV loud enough to rattle the windows. Whether it was music that would make the speakers sweat, the quiet outdoors, or the exhilaration of the speedway, he knew how to savor the melody of life and he never missed a beat to share those moments with loved ones.He joins in eternal rest his beloved parents and sisters, Lorena, Lorraine, Eleanor, and Becky who passed before him. He is survived by his children Silas Cordova, Jennifer Padilla, GeorgeGriego and Jason Griego; whom he proudly taught the fine art of mischief, quick wit, and nevertaking life too seriously. He is also survived by his brothers Chris, Paul, Jesse, and Jerry who remained his closest companions throughout life. Their bond was built on a foundation of shared stories, frequent conversations, and a love of their shared faith. Officially, he is survived by several grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Officially, the number is anyone’s guess as he had a knack for becoming ‘Grandpa’ or ‘Uncle’ to just about every kid who wandered into his life. Silas lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to hisfamily. Though he never sought the spotlight, his presence was deeply felt and his absence willbe even more so as we celebrate his gentle and humor filled soul. His legacy lives on in the stories he passed down, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
