Harriett Miree Rowe
May 9th, 1949 - October 27th, 2025
Harriett Melinda Miree Rowe, 76, of Vail, Arizona, passed away on October 16, 2025, surrounded by family. Born May 9, 1949, in Phico, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Reverend Mozelle Sr. and Ozzie Mae Miree and the seventh of nine children. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree through The Ohio State University's Army Nursing Program and was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in 1972. Harriett served 23 years in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, becoming one of its first Nurse Practitioners, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel with numerous commendations.In 1976, she married fellow Army officer Dennis Rowe, beginning a 49-year marriage blessed with four children and eleven grandchildren. Following her military career, Harriett continued to serve as a preschool director, public health nurse, and high school guidance counselor. Most recently, she shared her faith through her podcast Purposeful Parenting, reaching listeners worldwide. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; children Allison Marschean (Vince), Lauren Glaze (James), Kirsten Harr (Scott), and Dennis Rowe II (Sara); eleven grandchildren; and six siblings. A celebration of life will be held November 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Sabino Road Baptist Church, Tucson. Viewing is from 8:30-10:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System Fisher House.
