Margaret Elizabeth Mortensen
April 21, 1917 – October 28, 2025
Margaret Elizabeth Mortensen was born in Deer Lodge, Montana, the only child of Mathias and Gerena Wolfe Briggeman. She grew up on the Wolf ranch in Lemhi, Idaho. She attended a one room grade school, skipping several grade levels, graduating from Lemhi High School at age 16. Margaret went to college in Pocatello (now Idaho State University) graduating at age 21 from the School of Pharmacy. Margaret and Art Mortensen were married on June 25, 1941. During WWII, Art was drafted to teach young men to fly, and Margaret taught pilot ground school classes. After the war, Margaret had a long career as a pharmacist. She and Art owned several pharmacies, which they would sell periodically, and then travel with their three children and her mother. Many happy trips were taken throughout the USA from California to Texas to Fairbanks, Alaska. After Art’s death, Magaret married Walt Kaaland. A happy addition to the family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Art and Walt, and her son, Perry. She will be greatly missed by her son, Robert (Connie) Mortensen and daughter, Ann (Daryl) McClary; 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She graced the world with her intelligence, kindness, and genuine soul for 108 years.
Services will be held on Friday, October 31st at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 10 AM followed by the celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Services are under the care of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation.

We Entrusted Margaret Mortensen's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
