Beers and Story - South Hadley
Anne T. O'Connor
September 23rd, 1924 - November 7th, 2025
In Loving Memory
On September 23, 1924, a beautiful girl was born in Kilmaine, County Mayo, Ireland with hopes and dreams. Anne Theresa (Naughton) O’Connor of South Hadley, MA died peacefully on November 7, 2025, having fulfilled those dreams of a loving family, a faith-filled life and having a positive impact on everyone she met. Anne lived with warmth, integrity, and a belief in the power of showing up well and finishing a task just right. Anne was married for 67 years to the love of her life, the late Dr. John A. O’Connor; raised five children; sewed, knitted, quilted; attended all her children and grandchildren’s activities; and, according to her grandchildren, could mend anything.
Anne was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Sheridan) Naughton. Eleven much loved brothers and sisters preceded her in death, and she is survived by her sister Agnes King of Tuam, Ireland. Anne is also survived by her son Sean O’Connor (Ilda) of Quincy, MA, and her daughters: Ann Marie Gannon (David) of Meriden, CT, Ellen Hourihan (Jim) of Beverly, MA, and Mary Bruzzese (Tom) of Westwood, MA. She was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Cavanaugh (Mark) of South Hadley, MA. She will be lovingly missed by her children as well as her ten grandchildren: Kyle Gannon, Sean Gannon (Amanda), Carla Hass (Trevor), Sean Thomas O’Connor, Katie Cavanaugh Holtzman (Will), Matt Cavanaugh (Rachael), Kevin Hourihan, Colleen Hourihan, Tommy Bruzzese, Johnny Bruzzese and two precious great grandsons, Driscoll Gannon and Cameron Gannon.
No amount of time would have been enough for Anne’s family, many cherished nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors, and treasured friends but rather than mourn Anne’s passing, we want to celebrate her wonderful talented life, the joy she brought to so many, and the unconditional love she gave us all.
Services will be held Monday, November 17, 2025 with a period of visitation at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home from 9:00-10:30am and a Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Theresa’s Church, 9 East Parkview Drive, South Hadley, MA. Burial Services will be conducted thereafter at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa Church, 9 East Parkview Drive, South Hadley, MA 01075 or made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of her late daughter, Kathy (O’Connor) Cavanaugh, to support cancer research and patient care at:Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
