Leonard Thompson, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025. Born on March 27, 1954, Leonard lived a life full of faith, family, and adventure.
For over 20 years, Leonard served as a Mountain Host at Bogus Basin Ski Resort, where he shared his love of the outdoors and the mountains with countless visitors. His friendly spirit and willingness to help others made him a beloved member of the Bogus Basin community.
Leonard dedicated most of his time to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He volunteered countless hours to be involved in their lives. When his children were young, he proudly served as President of Northwest Ada Little League, frequently chaperoned school activities, and never missed an event for his children or grandchildren. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he found his greatest joy in supporting and spending time with them.
Leonard was a loving husband to Gay Thompson, and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Leonard and Gay enjoyed traveling, skiing, and spending time with their family. Their bond was filled with love, laughter, and mutual devotion that inspired all who knew them.
Leonard was the best father a child could ask for. He was always there to help his children through tough situations, to listen, and to offer thoughtful advice. He constantly looked out for their best interests in life and led by example. Leonard raised his children to be kind, respectful, and strong individuals, instilling in them the same faith and values that guided his own life.
Leonard (“Papa”) was a wonderful and loving grandfather. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren — attending their extracurricular activities, playing alongside them, and making sure they always felt loved and supported. His grandchildren adored their Papa deeply and will miss him beyond measure.
Professionally, Leonard worked as a Sales Representative with Yellow Book for more than two decades, where he was known for his professionalism, warmth, and genuine care for his clients and coworkers.
Outside of work, Leonard was a man of boundless energy and enthusiasm. He loved: camping, snow skiing, kayaking, and golfing, and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his friends and family. His outgoing personality and laughter were contagious to all who knew him.
Leonard was a devoted follower of Christ Jesus and lived his faith daily through kindness, service, and love. His life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and community.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Gay Thompson; his cherished children: Karis (Erik) Hurtado, Lauren (Wil) Ortiz, and Nicholas (Shalyse) Thompson; his beloved grandchildren: Giselle, Boone, Hayden, Isaiah, Caprice, Ace, and Royal; his mother, Susan Thompson; and his sisters: Debbie Long, Sheila Garrett, and Shelly Thompson. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His spirit of joy, generosity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

We Entrusted Leonard Thompson's Care To
Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
