In Loving Memory of Dorothy Ann Curzon

Dorothy Ann Curzon, 78 years old, passed away peacefully on November 10th, 2025, after a three-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She passed at home surrounded by the love of her family.

Dorothy was born on October 26th, 1947, in Bloomington, Indiana to Richard Warren Stevens and Dorothy Ann Stevens. She spent her childhood in Fairbury, Illinois with her parents and siblings Dick, Jane, and Tom. At the age of fifteen she moved to Tucson, Arizona with her parents and younger brother Tom where she attended Catalina High School and graduated in1965.

She attended the University of Arizona briefly after graduation.

While working in the payroll department at Anamax Mines, she met Robert Curzon. Robert worked in the warehouse at the mines and was acquainted with Dorothy’s mother. On their first date, Robert and Dorothy ate dinner at La Cucina, saw the movie, The Sand Pebbles, and spent the remainder of the evening playing arcade games at the Tucson International airport into the early morning hours. Robert and Dorothy dated for two years and were married in 1968.In 1969, Robert and Dorothy welcomed their first daughter, Elizabeth. Their second daughter, Stephanie arrived in 1972, and in 1981, Patricia, their third girl was born.

Dorothy worked off and on throughout her marriage in various bookkeeping jobs. She had a natural talent with numbers and even as her cognitive skills declined, her ability to do math remained until the end. She enjoyed working outside the home, but her joy and purpose in her life was her family. Dorothy was a loving and supportive wife, an amazing mother and grandmother and a devoted daughter and sister. Dorothy loved her husband Robert unconditionally. She was a strong woman who loved and supported him throughout their fifty-seven years of marriage.

He was her everything and their devotion and love for each other was an inspiration to many. Dorothy was an amazing mother to her three daughters. Mostly a stay athame mom, she gave each of her girls a beautiful childhood filled with so many memories. She would read books and bake with her daughters at home. Summers were often spent in Green Valley, AZ where her mother lived.

The days were filled with trips to the community pool and the evenings with card games and puzzles at the kitchen table. As a mother to teenage and adult daughters she provided a safe place where she loved fully, listened without judgement, and encouraged their dreams. As grandchildren came into her life they became her joy in life. Dorothy showered her grandkids with love and attention and left each one with precious memories.

Dorothy’s father passed away when she was a teenager. She held special memories of him and often told stories of her childhood. She had a special bond with her mother and along with her brothers and sister stood by and cared for her mother when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She had so much love for her mom and often talked about going home to her. Dorothy was an avid reader. Historical fiction and psychological thrillers were her favorites. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Her Apple pie was outstanding and a favorite request at family gatherings. Dorothy played the piano and enjoyed listening to 80’s and 90’s country music. She loved her cats and proudly became grandma to her daughters’ dogs. Jigsaw puzzles, word finds, and board games were a favorite way to pass time.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert, her daughters Elizabeth (James), Stephanie (Alan), Patricia, her grandchildren Adriana, Ashley, Donovan, Zachary, Caitlyn, step-grandchildren Blayne, Arian, great grandchildren Jayden, Andre, Raymond, great step-grandchildren Dean, Dexter, Grayson, her sister Jane, and her brother Tom (Jane). She was preceded in death by her father Richard, mother Dorothy, and brother Dick. A celebration of life will be held at Brings Broadway Chapel on December 4th, 2025.In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Dorothy’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, Gospel Rescue Mission, or any charity of choice
