18 December 1934 - 15 November 2025   Colonel Nathan Hartman, a proud United States Air Force Veteran, beloved father, grandfather, friend, and respected member of the community passed away on 15 November, 2025 at 90 years of age.     He was born in Abbeville, Louisiana on December 18, 1934.  He graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette, Louisiana, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, with a Master of Science Degree in General Engineering.   He received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force through the Reserve Office Training Corps in 1956 and entered the Air Force July 1957.  After serving honorably for 30 years—known for his exemplary leadership, pragmatic problem solving and respected mentoring—he retired from active duty July 1987.  His decorations include the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster.   Following retirement from the Air Force, he was employed as an Environmental Engineer in the Air Division of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (February 1988 - August 1998).  In September 1998, Nathan and his wife Norma Joyce (Sifford) of Advance, MO, moved to Gordonville, MO.  Nathan quickly became a trustworthy neighbor, serving as a Trustee of the Village of Gordonville September 2001- April 2005 and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees (aka Mayor) April 2003 - April 2005.  He also served on the Board of Cape Girardeau County Public Water Supply District 4 as a member and President.     Nathan is survived by daughter Malinda Hartman of Tucson, Arizona.  Three granddaughters, Langley Yard, Paxton Yard and Emily Gump, and one grandson, George Gump.   He is preceded in death by his father Whitney Hartman, mother Ella (Toups) Hartman both of Kaplan, Louisiana, his wife Norma, and his daughter, Jessica Gump.   Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield Missouri.  A celebration of life will follow at a later date with details to come.   In lieu of flowers or cards, please honor Nathan's memory by sharing a favorite story, BBQ meal and a toast with your preferred beverage.
