Bernard A. Marois, 78, passed away on Friday, November 21. He was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to Raymond E. and Aline (Coderre) Marois. “Bernie” was a graduate of South Hadley High School and Holyoke Community College and served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.

 

Bernie is predeceased by his wife, Irene (Courchesne) Marois; his brothers Phillip of Ludlow, MA; and Raymond, of Pinehurst, NC. He is survived by his older brother, Joe Marois, and younger sister, Lynette Marois; along with his four children: Christopher Marois and his wife Jennifer, Tiffanie (Marois) Castro, Michael Marois and his wife Natália, and Melissa Marois Keifer and her husband Weston. He was also a proud grandfather to his six grandchildren: Emily, Max, Chloe, Rex, Margot, and Willow; all of whom he would talk about to anyone who would listen.

 

“Bernie” or “Buddy” to his family, spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the passions that brought him joy. A longtime member of the Beavers Club, he cherished the camaraderie and community it provided. He had a lifelong love of classic cars and could often be found at local car shows, sharing stories, admiring classic models, and enjoying the company of fellow enthusiasts. Bernie also spent many years working in real estate, where he built lasting relationships and took pride in helping others find a place to call home.

 

Bernie will be remembered for his charismatic personality; his rambling stories; infectious smile and magical mustache. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

 

Calling hours will be held at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home on Mon., Dec. 1st from 4:00pm-6:30pm followed by a prayer service.  A graveside services will be held on Tues. Dec. 2nd at 10:00am at the Mass. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery 1390 Main Street in Agawam. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
