South Hadley- Raymond W. Descheneaux, 93, passed away November 28, 2025 with family by his side. He was born on August 18, 1932 in Chicopee to the late Camille and Germaine (Provost) Descheneaux. Raymond was born and raised in Chicopee and later became a long-time resident of Sandwich. Raymond proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War Era. Following his honorable service, he worked for Spaulding in Chicopee for many years. In 1980, Raymond relocated to Cape Cod where he met his loving partner of 42 years, Janet Perks. Together as snowbirds, they enjoyed the beauty of Cape Cod in the summer and the warmth of Florida in the winter. While residing in Sandwich MA, Raymond worked as a landscaper and gardener. His career became a passion and his love for gardening and caring for his flowers came second best to his love for being out on the waters. Raymond loved the beach and being outdoors. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and setting his lobster traps. He also found great joy in listening to music and dancing with his beloved sisters. Most of all, Raymond enjoyed creating lasting memories with family and friends and always having a good time. Besides his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Pare, and partner, Janet Perks. He will be dearly missed by his sons, Richard Descheneaux, and Kevin Descheneaux and his wife Janice; sister, Doris Breault; grandchildren, Christina and Richard Descheneaux, Emily Caraballo, Nicole Vezina, and Alison Descheneaux; as well as 6 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives he touched and those he leaves behind. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 10:30am-12:00pm with a service to begin at 12:00pm at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at 2:00pm the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
