Betty Lou Dougherty, age 69 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.  Betty was born on April 17, 1956, in Norton, VA to Billy and Loraine Jarrett.   

Betty will be remembered for her love of birds and flowers.  She truly enjoyed God’s creation, and she loved her family.  She was the proud MeeMo of two grandsons, and one great granddaughter on the way.  Betty inspired and touched many lives; as her family stated, “She saved many lives.”   

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Billy Wayne Jarrett.  Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, April Dougherty (Ashley); sister, Ann Rasnake (Johnny); grandsons, Jaden Petrusak (Symone), and Connor Petrusak; one great granddaughter on the way, Collins Kay Pertrusak; special loved ones, Sue Harris, Jennifer Tuggle, and Jonathan Smith; and many other loving family and friends.  

A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 8, 2025, with Brother David Dotson officiating.  Betty’s family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.  Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:50 pm.
