Elizabeth Pletcher Luttier, 93, of Seminole, Florida, passed away on November 17, 2025. Born on August 6, 1932, in Berwyn, Illinois, Elizabeth grew up in Champaign and moved to Florida in 1952 . She was the daughter of the late Lyle J. and Margaret Hill Pletcher, and sister to the late Jean P. Tanton and to William L. Pletcher.
Elizabeth was the widow of Thomas C. Luttier (1924–1992), and she will be laid to rest with him at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. A devoted mother and grandmother, Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Luttier, and her son, Mark Thomas Luttier; four beloved grandchildren: Patricia Benson AbuAsab, Robert Benson, Thomas Tucker Luttier, and Samuel Patrick Luttier, and four great grandchildren.
Elizabeth earned her B.A. from the University of Illinois and her M.Ed. from the University of South Florida. She taught sixth grade at St. John Vianney School in St. Pete Beach and at Belleair Elementary in Clearwater before finding her lifelong calling in animal therapy and dog training. A founding member of Project P.U.P. (Pets Uplifting People), Elizabeth helped shape the organization into a cornerstone of comfort and companionship in the community. She served on its Board of Directors for 25 years—many of those as President—dedicating her energy and compassion to improving the lives of others. Lending her patience and time to shape the minds of young people, she was also a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother.
Elizabeth was also a respected trainer and business partner in the Oakhurst Obedience program, where she taught dog obedience classes for more than 30 years. Her commitment to training continued right up to the very end, and generations of families remember her patience, expertise, and love for dogs.
A longtime parishioner of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Elizabeth lived her faith through service, humility, and kindness. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her devotion to her family, and her unwavering commitment to helping both people and animals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Project P.U.P. in Elizabeth’s memory. Her legacy of compassion will live on in the countless lives she touched.
