Our beloved “Apa,” Nicolas B. Plascencia, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished. He was 92 years old.

Born and raised in Mexico, Nicolas was one of five children of Toribio Plascencia Chavez and Maria Isabel Bocanegra. Early in life, he learned the values of hard work, humility, and devotion to family—principles that would define him throughout his years.

Nicolas was a loving and committed husband to our “Ama,” Matilde B. Plascencia (deceased). Married for 65 years, they built a beautiful life together and raised four children: Victor Barroso (deceased), Fredrico Barroso (deceased), Jaime Plascencia (deceased), and Mary Salazar.

In 1969, Apa and Ama made the brave decision to move to the United States in hopes of giving their family the best life possible. Through determination and tireless work, they built a new home and proudly became U.S. citizens in 1995. Nicolas worked as a field laborer and later at Musser Seed Co., always providing for his family with quiet strength and unwavering dedication.

Apa brought joy wherever he went. He loved family gatherings—watching the grandchildren play, sharing stories, and filling the room with laughter. His happiest moments were spent tending to his animals, working in his garden, or relaxing beneath his fruit trees. Even in his final days, his thoughts were always of others before himself.

A devoted father and grandfather, Nicolas leaves behind his daughter Mary Salazar of Caldwell, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on in every one of them. We will carry his gentle spirit, his humor, and his love with us always.

We find comfort knowing he is joyfully reunited with the love of his life, Matilde, along with his sons Victor, Fred, and Jaime, and his parents.

Please join us for a Rosary Recital on December 4th from 6–8 p.m. at Flahiff in Caldwell. The family has chosen to lay him to rest in a private service on Friday, December 5th.
