Arthur Gene Griffin, age 90, of Kingsport, TN was called home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025. He was born on May 11, 1935, to George Clyde Griffin and Elsie Flanary Griffin in Scott County, VA. He was a faithful member of Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church and attended until prevented by illness. He retired from Atmos Energy then was self-employed as Griffin Gas.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Elwood, Dee, Carlos, Dewey, Kenny, Glen, and Bobby; sisters Janice Gibson and Marie Burke. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sallie (Carter) Griffin; daughters Lisa (Derwin) Cartmel, and Penny (Dennis) Lawson; grandchildren Daniel (Darci) Lawson, Isaac Cartmel, and Rachael Cartmel; great-grandchild Breelynn Lawson; sisters-in-law Inece Griffin and Doris Griffin; uncle Billy Flanary; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

A visitation of family and friends will be held at Carter-Trent Funeral Home - Kingsport on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm with Mike Payne officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11:00 am at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park formally Tri-Cities Memory Gardens in Blountville, TN. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am.
