Carol Ruth Michaelis

Born July 8, 1942

Daughter of William Michaelis and Ruth Liebenow

Chicago, Illinois

Carol, also known as “Grammy” or “Doodle,” passed away peacefully in her home on December 9, 2025.  She spent 83 years spreading love, joy, sarcasm, sass, and laughter to everyone around her.

In 1967, she gave birth to her only child, Eric.  Over the years, she gained three grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda and Ayden, who she loved dearly.  She also gained an amazing daughter-in-law, Leona, who she respected and loved.

Carol spent over forty years of her life dedicated to the medical field of microbiology, cancer research, and chemotherapy.  Her research resulted in the advancement of understanding how cancer comes to be and how we treat it today.  The knowledge gained from her hard work and tenacious focus changed the lives of millions of cancer patients around the world.  Her goal, to ease the suffering of a fellow human being and to hopefully one day find a cure.

Carol’s passions in life were baking amazing food, reading mystery novels and any other type of book she could get her hands on, traveling with her family, and continuously learning everything she could about the world around her.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
