Peggy Louise (Higer) Tietsort
The vibrant and loving Peggy Tietsort passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the age of 67.
Peggy was born on March 27, 1958, and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, by Hiram and Millie Higer in a loving home with her siblings: Kim, Teresa, Jill, and her twin sister, Patty. She loved singing with her siblings, in church choirs, and in school musicals. She was also drawn to the outdoors — gardening, helping her father with calving, playing rough games of field hockey, and horseback riding.
Her faith anchored her life. At five years old, Peggy accepted Christ as her Savior with her mother’s guidance. She devoted her life to serving children as a Children’s Ministry Director and in the community, where she led after-school programs. Peggy expressed her love for the Lord through her commitment to nurturing children.
It was during her ministry that Peggy met the love of her life, John Tietsort. After graduating from Caldwell High School in 1976, Peggy and John served the youth of Caldwell First Baptist Church, leading worship and organizing events together. While leading a youth camp in the summer of 1977, their appreciation for one another grew, leading to their first date that fall at a Boise State football game. They married in 1979 and shared 46 loving years together.
Their marriage took them on a meaningful journey — from Dallas, Texas, where John attended seminary; to Trout Lake, Washington, where they raised their three children: Nicole (husband, Joey), Cris (wife, Katie), and Jaron; and eventually back to Caldwell to care for their parents.
Peggy adored her six grandchildren — Asher, Mila, Eamon, Salem, Graham, and Audrey — and they returned that love with equal joy and affection.
She was a bright light and faithful witness to Christ for all those blessed to know her and especially to her family and circle of friends.
Her last three years were spent in a battle with pancreatic cancer. Special deep appreciation to Dr. Chawla and his staff at St. Al’s treatment center; her physician, Dr. Portnier; the kind and gracious staff at Aspen Creek Assisted Living; and Copper Falls Hospice.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 221 E. Linden Street in Caldwell. Arrangements are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
