Alvin Keith Collins, 75, of Kernersville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Born in Stokes County on November 1, 1950, Keith was the son of the late James Elmer Collins and Alice Neal Collins. He grew up in Colfax and later became a beloved fixture in the Kernersville community, where he was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Kernersville.”
Keith proudly served his country in the United States Army, with a deployment to Germany. After his military service, he enjoyed a long career with Procter & Gamble and later with Crown Nissan, where he formed many lasting friendships.
A man who never met a stranger, Keith was known for his quick wit, infectious humor, and generous spirit. He loved solving the world’s problems with friends at S&R Motors, cheering on his buddy at Bowman Gray Stadium, and cruising the streets in his chili pepper red Bronco proudly sporting the “Straight Outta Colfax” tire cover. He lived life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone around him.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Jean and Audrey; his brothers, Charlie and Joe; his partner of 32 years, Andrea Jan Apple; and his beloved cat, Geraldine.
He is survived by his brother, Leon Collins (Marie); sister-in-law Brenda Collins; his cherished niece Jeannie Kearney (Dale), with whom he shared a very special bond; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friends of 55 years, Steve and Sharon Crigler; close friend Tammy Wright; and his adopted “son,” Todd Brigman (Holly).
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Keith’s devoted nurses, Pam Higgins and Lori Gyke, for the exceptional care and compassion they provided him.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 213 West Mountain Street, Kernersville with visitation from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
Keith will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate to know and love him.
