Lois Anne (Davis) Denney, 92, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born November 3, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Arthur and Inez (Terry) Davis. She shared a lifelong bond with her older siblings Rosemary and Jack, whose companionship remained constant from childhood through adulthood. Lois grew up in Cincinnati and Columbus, where she met her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Denney Jr. They married shortly after her graduation, when she was just 17. Together, they welcomed three beautiful children, Dave, Rick, and Karen.
In their early years, she and Chuck moved to Amarillo, Texas, to help care for his mother, before continuing to Lamar, then La Junta, Colorado. There, Lois co-owned a radio station with her husband, raised their children, worked in accounting, and contributed to her community in countless meaningful ways. She balanced hard work and family life with determination and her faith.
Later in life, Lois built an independent lifestyle she valued deeply. She moved across Colorado, living in Grand Junction, Denver, and Swink, before settling in Loveland, where she would remain for the rest of her life. Lois devoted herself to her family and her creative pursuits in the arts. She found joy in painting, drawing, sewing, and crafting. Lois enjoyed her travels abroad, vacationing in Japan and Europe. She also had a profound and enduring love for cats, finding comfort, companionship, and joy in their presence throughout her life.
Family was at the heart of everything Lois did. They were her most tremendous pride and joy, and she dedicated herself to nurturing connection, growth, and love across generations. She also seemed to know everything and be everywhere for her family—whether it was a sporting event, a pregnancy announcement, or a move. She loved to share stories spanning her life, keeping her legacy alive. Lois was the matriarch and glue of the Denney family, and her presence, tenacity, and sharp wit will be missed. She was a very strong woman who went through many health issues throughout her life, but always fought through the rehab battles to be able to live independently until her death.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Inez; her sister, Rosemary; her brother, Jack; and her only grandson, Cord Williams. She is survived by her three children, Dave (Lynn) Denney of Windsor, Co Rick (Tina) Denney of Loveland, Co and Karen (Dave) Williams of Swink, Co; her four granddaughters, Cara (Devon) Bruntz, Allison (Josh) Marshall, Ashley (Billy) Montes, and Jessica Denney; her granddaughter-in-law, Aubrey (wife of Cord); eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
